The fine print - studio policy
Lesson requirements

-
New students must be 7 years or older.
-
Parents are welcome but not required to attend the lesson once the student is established in how the programme works and in their practice routine. If attending the lesson, please make arrangements for other children during the lesson so you may focus fully on the lesson.
-
Students must practice at least 10-20 mins a day as appropriate to their level, 5-6 days per week, supported by the parent/caregiver. Expect this time to increase as the student advances in difficulty.
-
Please print and organise materials in a folder. Purchase a notebook for lesson notes.
-
Students are expected to bring their student materials and notebooks to each lesson.
-
Students are expected to complete weekly tasks and assignments as set by the teacher.

Tuition, fees, and materials

-
Tuition is based on enrolment not attendance. See policy regarding missed lessons below.
-
The tuition fee is an annualised fee spread over 11 equal monthly instalments payable in advance by automatic payment on the 15th of each month starting in January and finishing on the 15th of November. This monthly payment guarantees the student’s place in my studio and covers the costs of lessons and enrolment. Contact the studio for current rates.
-
Some materials are supplied free of charge but you will be required to purchase core books as directed by the teacher.

Lesson schedule

-
Lessons will be scheduled in consultation with the teacher and will remain consistent throughout the year, but may be subject to change at the start of each new year.
-
Changes to the schedule may be permitted as space allows but cannot be guaranteed.

Studio calendar 2025
-
The studio is closed on all public holidays, long weekends, Easter Thursday, and the second week of the school holidays from February to December.
-
Students will receive lessons during February to December, mostly occurring during school term time.

-
Click here for studio calendar dates.

Missed lessons / non-attendance

-
Tuition is based on enrolment not attendance. When you enrol in lessons, you are paying to secure a specific time on a specific day each month during the studio year (February to December). This is your session that you are paying for and the teacher's time is set aside for the entire period, exclusively for you. As such, you are paying for time reserved, not time taught.
-
If a student or the teacher cannot attend in person but the lesson can be conducted remotely at their scheduled time, the lesson can take place online.
-
If a student misses a lesson during term time due to a holiday, an illness, or chooses to participate in another event over their regularly scheduled lessons, lessons are not credited or refunded. If missing lessons for an extended period due to a holiday, please get in touch to discuss as soon as possible. Payment is generally required to hold the spot in my schedule. Please click here to read "Make-Up Lessons from an Economist's Point of View".
-
Non-attendance without communication and last-minute cancellations are not eligible for reschedules or credits.
-
If the teacher needs to cancel a lesson at your regular time for any reason, the lesson will be rescheduled or tuition credit will apply if it can't be rescheduled.

Terminating lessons
'
-
If you wish to finish lessons, please provide one month's notice by email. Students will continue to receive the lessons they’ve paid for until the end of the monthly cycle when the termination will take effect. Refunds will not be issued regardless of attendance.

Illness in the current health climate

-
If a student is ill or has been ill and is still exhibiting symptoms, please do not attend the lesson. Lessons can be conducted online if the student is well enough.
-
It is better for one student to miss one lesson than for the teacher to become ill and have to cancel all lessons.

This policy applies from 1 January 2025 until further notice.
